Giulio Caccini (Vladimir Vavilov) – Ave Maria
Ave Maria is a much-recorded aria, composed by Vladimir Vavilov in the 1960s, apparently for the concerts of baroque music arranged by him. In 1975, the label “Melody” released Irina Bogacheva’s album Ancient arias, Ave Maria was attributed to the authorship of Giulio Caccini (1551−1618).
She remembres: « Vladimir Vavilov brought the scores by Cacchini. Then he told me that it was a piece by Caccini. We recorded the aria before he died. I often performed this piece with him. Vladimir Vavilov accompanied with the lute at concerts and during recordings. »
