[JAPAN] Nanami Sakuraba Tribute – Actress

This video introduces you to Ms. Nanami Sakuraba, one of Japan’s popular actresses. Nanami was born in Kagoshima-prefecture to Japanese parents. From a little child, she was kind of famous in her town for her beauty. As she grew up, she was chosen to represent and promote her town; soon a local TV station noticed her and its headquarters in Tokyo noticed her. People began talking about Nanami as a “beautiful girl in Kagoshima.”
In 2007, Nanami was finally scouted by one of the major talent agents in Tokyo; since then, she’s been studying and working as an actress. In Feb 2008, Nanami was offered a small part in one of the TV drama series; that became her movie debut. Many films later, she looks back and says that it was the right choice for her to become an actress. Nanami has expanded her career to modeling and stage-acting as well since then. For one of the major magazines, she was selected out of 17,000 girls and women gathered from all over Japan.
In 2009, Nanami got a part in an Anime, “Summer Wars,” as a voice actor; this is how her voice acting career started. Her entertainment career has been progressing smoothly and well. She was offered to try out for a music album, too, and the music group, “bump.y,” was formed just for her.
In 2010, Nanami continues modeling for magazines. In the same year, she played the main character in the movie, “The Last Chū.shin.gu.ra.” She successfully played the heroine role and received numerous awards including the Japan Academy Award for New Actor.
In Oct 2012, her commemorative photobook, “Birth,” was released on her 20th birthday.
In April 2014, she announced to graduate from “bump.y” at the end of June.
In 2019, Nanami played the main rule in the NHK TV drama series, “Scarlet.” She is now focused on acting and voice-acting, and not so much on singing.
