Hello everyone!
I have recently started to watch jazz piano videos on YouTube and I’m amazed at how effortless it seems for jazz pianists to improvise on the spot. I wanted to learn more about jazz piano, and the first thing I searched for was the “blues scale”, which sounds like this in A minor: A-C-D-E♭-E-G.
Coincidentally, when I listened to this song, I’m surprised that it also uses the blues scale in the intro. I decided to develop this idea further and experimented with some jazz elements. In this arrangement, I used the blues scale to connect different sections of the song, and also changed the bridge to an improvisation in swing tempo, imposed on the original walking bass.
